His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 2 Peter 1:3-4
This week we start in on Second Peter which was effectively his farewell speech as he was close to his death. He uses this letter to both lift the faithful and to deny false teachers that existed in his time and would come after he was gone, who would deny the core of the Faith and questioning the Apostles motives.
In the verse Peter says that we have been given everything we need for a godly life. He knew that Jesus called his disciples, both current and future, to minister to everyone based on our potential for shared brotherhood in Christ and this grounded his sacrifice and the sacrifices of Christians for 2000 years. It was understood that we are all here to save souls by sharing Christ. Today’s culture continually questions, attacks and denies any connection humanity has to God even though a greater understanding of Christ exists today than back then. Christians have had thousands of years to ponder His words and see examples of faithful men and women living their godly lives and so our response is to invoke Christ and confront the corruption that we know is antithetical to Christs teachings. Confronting it not with weapons and riots but with prayers, petitions and sacrifices, calling on God to intercede for his faithful.
Daily Battle Order:
Today, kneel down and say a prayer for Christ’s love to permeate the hardships that humanity is facing today. Pray that in the prisons, battlefields and classrooms the faithful will shine so brightly with His Love that everyone present cannot help but notice and be stirred in their soul by His Diving Nature made visible.
