Gather together and come;
assemble, you fugitives from the nations.
Ignorant are those who carry about idols of wood,
who pray to gods that cannot save.
Declare what is to be, present it—
let them take counsel together.
Isaiah 45:20-21
In 2021, we introduced a series on Wingmen. We called for volunteers who would be paired with each other and would practice fellowship as a discipline: as something you just “do” or even something that must be done, such as daily exercise or getting enough sleep. God has given us a purpose but also an Enemy. There’s no victory except through Christ, but we can’t do this on our own.
One of the greatest qualities about God is the quality of connection or relationship. Over and over, the Bible reminds us of God’s connection with his people, his connection to you and his connection between Christians who are in agreement. In fact, whenever there is trouble, the Lord makes himself even more accessible. He says “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other”. Isaiah 45:22. In some of his last instructions to the apostles, he said that the world should know us by our love – for one another. John 13:35.
There was good testimony out of the Wingman Series. It was good, but we also learned ways to improve in engaging men and keeping them engaged. We sharpened our pencils and put our heads together; in 2022 we’re going to keep improving our content, creating cohorts, doing battlefield excursions and facilitating small groups. We’re also going to reclaim some ground - together. Join us.
In 2022, there’s going to be some challenges to face in the world, in our country and our families, but we’re not taking our ball and going home. In 2022, we’re recommitted to bringing men together in the name of Jesus Christ. Sometimes, it feels like the power of the Holy Spirit doubles and triples when men act in brotherhood. We’ve seen it! On several occasions, we’ve collectively prayed to God for some storm to end and guess what? He answered.
DAILY BATTLE ORDER
This DBO quotes Isaiah 45. If you haven’t read it, you should check it out. Read it, perhaps even out loud: and know the might of the God we serve. Committing to each other in the name of this walk is worth it. Kingdom Men must “take counsel together”.
