In 1776, the 13 colonies set out on a journey of self-determination, fighting for five years to overcome tyranny and explore the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. However, even then, the American experiment struggled—and continues to struggle—with contradictions around: whose life, whose liberty, and whose pursuit of happiness are worthy of these unalienable rights?
Last week, we set the historical context for the October 26th TJC Battlefield Summit at Kings Mountain, NC. This week, is your personal invitation to join me and TJC to ‘turn the tide’—for you and your family in your battles. Experience your victory firsthand too! Follow Me. I know the Way.
Why Didn’t Someone Tell Me?
via TJC
Living in the South, we’re surrounded by Civil War history. It’s everywhere—so much so that it’s easy to take it for granted. We think we know a lot, maybe even more than people from other parts of the country (this is what my life as a southern church guy’s knowledge of the Bible sounds like too). But participating in TJC battlefield events over the past few years has opened my eyes to how little I actually knew about battles in places like Gettysburg, Manassas, Fredericksburg, and even Chickamauga. Beyond the famous names like Lee and Grant, the stories of the men who fought were almost entirely unknown to me. I was initially drawn to TJC because of the unique opportunity to learn truths about the battles in my own life by studying the real battles these men faced.
Once on a battlefield, we do more than just talk about history. In fact, the history is secondary to our true purpose: to dive into the battles men face today—how failure affects them and their families, and most importantly, how victory is possible. This year, we’re extending this experience to include families, making the lessons even more impactful.
The response from men who’ve joined us over the years has often been, “Why didn’t someone tell me this sooner?” It’s especially rewarding when younger men, some of them sons who attend with their dads, receive training and instruction early on, equipping them to win their battles sooner. This year, with wives joining us, men have the chance to bring their most important “battle buddy” into the fight, helping them understand the challenges they face.
We hope you’ll consider joining us at King’s Mountain next month. Honestly, I knew little about this Revolutionary War battle until we decided to go there. There’s so much about the war that founded our country that we often overlook, and King’s Mountain, with its southern significance, speaks to me deeply. Come join us on the battlefield—not just for the great U.S. history lessons you might have missed, but to discover the victory available in your life and the lives of your loved ones.
Don’t let “Why didn’t someone tell me” be a part of your story any longer. Make this a step in your journey to VICTORY!
