“And do not call anyone on earth your father, for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.” Matthew 23:9
I never called my dad “father”. He was always just my dad. He passed away many years ago. My family and I lived in another state and had busy lives of our own and I really didn’t make the time to talk with him. Lately, I’ve thought about my dad; what he would think of me, my life, my passions, and pursuits. My accomplishments, my shortcomings.
In my quiet time, first thing in the morning, I make the time to talk with my Heavenly Father. Some people may refer to this as a prayer time but praying to God is just talking with Him. Sharing your heart, your fears, your challenges, your adventures with your Heavenly Father. Those who know me know that I refer to this time as “coffee with Dad”. For as long as I can remember the first thing I do every morning is have a cup of coffee and sit and just ponder the day. Many years ago, I turned that time into a conversation with God, my Heavenly Father, my Abba Father. I can share everything with Him. He always listens and often will speak to me in His own ways. The thing I struggle with from time to time is not the hearing but the doing.
Battle Order:
Make the time to talk with your Heavenly Father. Prayer is just talking to your Heavenly Father. It’s just a conversation between the two of you, no different really than if you were sitting down to talk with your earthly dad. Be quick to listen to your Heavenly Father and respond to what He tells you to do.
