“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 (ESV)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:1-5
Last week we unpacked the Kingdom of God and what it is. This week we will look closely at Whose Kingdom Is It? Buckle up everyone!
The Bible starts with “In the beginning God …”. As Creator, God sets The Standard for Truth, which sits outside of time & space. There is no higher authority in which to appeal, as God is the final authority. It doesn't matter what your momma says is right, what your daddy says, what your best friend, social media, culture, or what anyone says, as God has the final say.
From the beginning God has had a plan for the earth and for mankind. Embracing God as Creator forms the foundation for man made in God’s image, the source of evil in this world, etc.
Is it important? Satan’s first lie to men was to Eve, questioning what God had said and His character. Since that time Satan continues in trying to deceive men in foundational beliefs about who God is and His godly role in this world that we live in.
Daily Battle Order:
Our counter to Satan’s lies is faith. Our faith is grounded in Truth as God himself is Truth, as He cannot lie.
Even Paul referred to our God as Creator when speaking at the Areopagus: “The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything” Acts 17:24-25
We must ground our faith in God’s Truth “so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ,” Eph 4:14-15.
