Who is on the Throne?

via TJC

“And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.””

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”"

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18‬ ‭AMP‬‬

So who is in charge here anyway?  That’s a great question I think I need to ask myself every day.  Looking at Revelation 21 this week it is clear that someone is on the throne that the writer (the Apostle John) is telling us about.  I won’t try to find some creative way to get to the answer- It’s God.  He is the one on the throne of heaven and from there he has given Jesus all the authority to act on His behalf: in Heaven, on Earth, and in our lives as Kingdom men. But do I see Him as on the throne of MY life.

Being fully honest here, I don’t act like he is in charge a lot of the time.  I keep taking back that role of leader in my life.  When we go onto battlefields there are plenty of stories of men who believed they knew better than their commander.  The difference for us, if we really believe it, is that we have an infallible leader who loves us unconditionally.  So why do I keep taking back control on a regular basis?  Why do I put myself on the throne of my life?  I want a great story to put here to make my illustration but there are simply too many.  My guess is that you will also have no problem identifying the times you take back your own throne.

Daily Battle Order:

Keeping God on the throne of our lives is a daily decision.  Starting now, begin each day with the question “Who am I putting on the throne of my life for today?”.  It’s a simple question.  It only takes a few seconds, but it is a profound decision.  Decide that it is God the Father who loves you and has a perfect battle plan.  I have to do it every day to be sure I’m not sneaking back where only the true Ruler belongs.  Spend some time asking for your marching orders for that day then head out with confidence that your Ruler has it under control.
