What is Spiritual Warfare: You’ve already Won!

“No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord. – Isaiah 54:17

Spiritual warfare is anything that keeps you engaged with the counterfeit. It’s the enemy’s personal propaganda campaign—built on lies he wants you to believe and truths he hopes you’ll ignore. But here’s the reality: in Christ, no lie, no scheme, and no weapon formed against you can stand. Victory is already yours.

I saw a vivid picture of this once at Disney World. My wife and I were in line for the Haunted Mansion ride behind a family with two young kids—a nine-year-old daughter and her four- or five-year-old brother. The little boy clearly looked up to his sister, but he was nervous about the ride.

He asked his parents if it was scary, but their answers didn’t seem to help. So, he turned to his sister with all the hope in his little heart and asked, “Is it scary? Am I going to be okay?” Without hesitation, she placed her hands on his shoulders, looked him in the eyes, and said, “You’re gonna die.”

Instant meltdown. He grabbed his mom’s leg, begging to leave. His parents asked why she would say that, and she casually replied, “I don’t know. He was bothering me.”

My wife and I couldn’t help but laugh. We’d been on the ride before. We knew Disney wasn’t going to harm anyone—it’s the happiest place on earth. The lie was so absurd that we couldn’t possibly believe it.

That’s the assurance God wants us to have in Him. The enemy will try to intimidate, accuse, and plant fear in our hearts, but his weapons are powerless against the truth of God’s promises. When we know God’s character, fear loses its grip. We can laugh at the lies, refute every false word, and stand in the victory that’s already ours.
