What is Glory

Updated: Oct 5, 2022

Moses said, “Please show me your glory”. ~Exodus 33:18

The glory that you have given to me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one. ~John 17:22

If I asked you to show me your character what would you do? You would probably perform an act or share a story that led me to have a deeper understanding of how you see yourself. If I asked you to show me your goodness you would probably do an act for someone or give an encouraging word. When Moses asked the LORD God a similar question, the Lord God responded by passing before him and only allowing Moses to see his back, because His glory was so magnificent that it would have killed him (Exodus 33:18-23).  That type of magnificence has to beg the question: What is Glory?!

On its own, God’s Glory is as incredible and as difficult to distill as the Holy Spirit is to explain. God’s glory is through all, and in all.  It is at the same time a source and a manifestation of the Father God. What is most fascinating to me about God’s Glory is that He chooses to share it; and He shares it with us. John 17:22 says, “The glory that you have given to me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one.” His glory is a force that brings unity. It’s a unity that brings us together like the Father and Son and demonstrates a love and goodness between His children that will get the attention of the world as it passes in front of them.  As Kingdom Men, when someone asks a question which causes you to reveal your character, show them your Glory!

Daily Battle Order:

Does God’s glory in you seem to onlookers like you are “killing them with goodness?” Is it so radiant that it is unifying the space and people around you? So Kingdom Man, today, show your goodness and create unity with the person who frustrated you yesterday. If no one frustrated you, then this morning, show goodness to the last person you saw on your way out of work yesterday.
