In 1776, the 13 colonies set out on a journey of self-determination, fighting for five years to overcome tyranny and explore the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. However, even then, the American experiment struggled—and continues to struggle—with contradictions around: whose life, whose liberty, and whose pursuit of happiness are worthy of these unalienable rights?
Last week, we set the historical context for the October 26th TJC Battlefield Summit at Kings Mountain, NC. This week, is your personal invitation to join me and TJC to ‘turn the tide’—for you and your family in your battles. Experience your victory firsthand too! Follow Me. I know the Way.
“WE as Husband & Wife Need This” - A Woman’s Call to the Battlefield
via TJC
“So that WE are not outwitted by Satan, for WE are not ignorant of his designs” 2 Corinthians 2:11
First, I looked at the family schedule, and there are no conflicts on 26 Oct. Next, I checked the football schedule since I enjoy a football game more than my husband does. Right now, BAMA (Roll Tide) is playing Missouri (ranked #7), but there are no other rivalries I care deeply about. Then I reminded him that the battlefield summits I’ve been on have advanced our ability to work through challenges with a common frame. I also really enjoy seeing my husband, being with other men and the lessons they share and the deepness of their friendships that grow there.
Frankly, I know my husband has some unique battles which are different from mine as a woman. I’ve learned at a TJC event that he isn’t that weird—seeing other men share and teach was eye-opening. He has shared how he sees me as a stronger partner in his, and our challenges together after a summit.
I grew up near one of the TJC battlefields (Chickamauga) and did school field trips there, even went to concerts on one of their big fields with my parents. But I didn't know why that battle was so important to our city Chattanooga, and the pivotal role it played in the civil war, which was pretty foreign to me. The list of generals, weapons and how the battle unfolded were pretty complicated to keep track of, but I understood they were just the context for battles we are personally in today.
Most importantly is seeing all the relationships in a family, and among old and new friends grow, as they share, laugh and give each other a hard time - well that is my husband's MO. I’m personally leery of women’s groups as they seem to be full of drama and too often husband bashing - drama is not my thing. So this active, outside adventure is filled with healthy dialogs, and grounded in building up families and men as protectors, providers and priests. I want my husband to lead me. I am a strong confident woman and business leader, but need my husband to lead us well.
Daily Battle Order:
I can do most things well on my own, but it gives my heart a lift, and a sense of security when I hear him say the TJC motto, and means it, “Follow me, I know the way.”
Ladies don’t wait - go check your families schedule, go on-line and register your family, and put the receipt on the table at dinner. You share that you’re going as we also know and claim “Follow me, I know the way”.
