“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6: 19-21
Over the course of my life I’ve bought a lot of “stuff”. I’m sure much of my stuff I’ve long since discarded but there are things I do hold on to. Things I treasure because of their importance to me. The value of these items is really immeasurable to anyone else but to me, they’re precious. I wouldn’t part with them unless I could pass them along to someone who had a need. Maybe, the need is to mend a hole in their heart that only an act of kindness can repair. Maybe, it’s to heal a wounded memory of a friend who passed away and something that person treasured can find its way into the hands of that friend who can receive it as a true treasure because of the love and thoughtfulness of the person doing the giving. Maybe it’s laying aside money to give to a family member or a friend after you pass away so they can use it to fund a dream they have and they shared with you; and you can be a part of their dream even as you realize your treasure in heaven.
Daily Battle Order:
Where is your heart? What do you treasure? Are you ready to have much victory, much fruit in your life? Take the time to do an inventory of what you treasure and ask yourself if you could sow your treasures into the life of someone else. Then you will know where your heart truly is.
