“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. … Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.”
1 John 4:7-9,11-12 (ESV)
Today is Valentine’s Day. How are you celebrating?
In preparation for Valentine’s Day, I embraced my wife and spoke this prayer:
“I love you. I love you deeply and more and more each day. As much as I love you, God loves you so much more. God’s love for you is both special (to you) and boundless; His love is not constrained by time or space, and is eternal. God himself is Love.
My commitment to you is for you to feel loved, understood, and protected. As much as I can, I endeavor to reflect God’s love for you more and more. I am so grateful we are on this journey together.”
“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1Cor 13:13
