Today’s Wrestling Topic: We Believe There Are Only Two Genders
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” /Gen1.27
By my own admission, this is a very difficult subject. It’s just plain hard to relate to the complexity of today’s gender culture vs the stark reality of biological gender.
When we look at gender by definition, there are stark physiological realities that cannot be denied. A male has certain physical characteristics as does a female. That said, I’m struck by how the resistance to these realities is so driven by satanic ideology.
“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” Gal. 6.7-8
Gender confusion or dysphoria is a tortuous journey endured by certain individuals with varied issues. This condition has no basis in fact. However, it is real to those who experience “longings” relative to their desire to be the opposite of their biological sex. The aforementioned deception is a powerful tool of the enemy and is useful in destroying any connection one has to God. The failure to accept your biological gender is evidence of Satan’s influence and deception in your life.
Many people claim to “identify” as one or the other gender. My question is, “Is this your biological reality or your psychological/spiritual perception of yourself?” If it’s your psychological perception, we aren’t talking about gender then… are we? What if, just what if… people who “identify” as the opposite of their biological gender are being deceived? Then ask yourself, “Who stands to gain by deceiving me?” Rhetorical question, I know.
Friend, gender confusion will never have any effect on how much God loves men and women. He loves us all. That, however, doesn’t make it right. Scripture (and biology) tells us that gender is determined by God and gender deception is established by the enemy Satan.
As Kingdom Men, our principal concern in this matter should be for the spiritual identity of each soul we encounter, with no regard for their sexual “identity”. “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1Cor. 13.4-7

Brother, you may take personal offense to questions of gender in today’s culture. This is your opportunity to show the love of Christ to people who may think differently than you. Question: Will you trust God to show you how to lovingly, firmly share the truth and at the same time share the Gospel when confronted with questions of gender? Pray for the grace and wisdom to do so and God will guide you in this.
