We impart words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:13
I fed you milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for substantive food, real meat. - 1 Corinthians 3:2
The natural, unregenerate man of the highest intellectual attainments does not grant access to the things of the Spirit of God, for to him, they are folly, and he is not able to come to know them because they are investigated and discerned in a spiritual realm. But the spiritual man investigates all things, but he himself is not being probed by any human. - 1 Corinthians 2:14-15
Having 5 sons and 7 grandsons, I am keenly aware that what I speak has weight. This is good. Four of my grandsons have already moved on from milk to eating real meat. The three youngest ones are still on milk but not far behind.
If I were to sum up the above verses, it would be, “Flesh reproduces fleshly boys. Only The Spirit can reproduce spiritual men.” Your growth from a natural boy into a mature Spiritual man is like transitioning from milk to meat. When we choose to walk in the Spirit and become comfortable trusting the Holy Spirit, we become 'meat eaters' in our faith. But if we default to our normal, natural way of thinking, we remain 'milk drinkers '. The disciples often faced tough decisions. As the church grew and needs increased, problems arose. In one case, some widows complained they were not getting enough food.
The disciples asked the church to select seven men “controlled by the Holy Spirit and filled with broad and full intelligence” who could handle this work. The job required handing out food to widows. How tough could that be? They were not asked to preach, heal the sick, or cast out demons. Just be good waiters serving food! Yet, the job description demanded being ‘controlled by the Holy Spirit.’
Daily Battle Order: My sons, our Heavenly Father has made you gifted and talented. However, as you succeed, do not fall into the common man’s trap of solely trusting in your talents. Remember to invite the Holy Spirit even in those mundane tasks: washing a neighbor's car, paying the bills, or waiting on tables. Walk in The Spirit and you will become mature meat eaters.
