“Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13: 47-50
Have you ever looked around in Church and really looked to see who was there to worship? Physically we are young and old, sick and healthy, well kept or disheveled. Mentally we run the range from simple followers of Christ, some who may even be illiterate, to theological scholars. Some are new to friendship with Christ, others have been on a journey with him for decades and others still are trying to figure out where to even start after recognizing their need for Him. Christ calls all to Him, wherever they may be and His net encompasses all of humanity. As we finish this week of meditation on the Kingdom, let us take up the net Christ made for us and, with trust and obedience, be faith filled fishers of men.
Daily Battle Order:
Thank God for your gifts and talents and also for your shortcomings. The gifts and struggles that God gives us help us to define where God can use us to spread Christ’s net to bring people to Him.
A wide and indiscriminate net indeed! PTL! There is neither Jew nor Greek, nor slave nor free, nor male nor female.
