The Consequences of Failing to Lead

via TJC

“Therefore the LORD rejected all the people of Israel; he afflicted them and gave them into the hands of plunderers, until he thrust them from his presence.” 2 Kings 17:20

At first glance, the books of 1st and 2nd Kings is the story of the lineage of David. Generations and generations of kings that continue to lead the nation of Israel into destruction with wars, idolatry, slavery, greed, and even murder. But a closer look into the text reveals a more sinister and common thread among these kings. By allowing false gods like Baal into Israel, these rulers chose to appease their people rather than lead them according to God’s word. By allowing and even priming the worship of worldly alternatives to God, God was pushed aside.

Today’s America resembles historic Israel.. We place athletes, politicians, and actors on pedestals for all to worship. We worship brand names, and other earthly treasures. We are influenced daily by Facebook, CNN and YouTube, but rarely even think of Christ outside of Sunday. We constantly bow to people demanding things that go against the laws of God and we just nod. Instead of leading, as we are called to, we appease. And with every compromise, God is pushed further from the lives of those we were instructed to lead.

Daily Battle Order:

We must stop compromising on the Laws and the Word of the Lord. The Bible is clear on today’s most toxic challenges. As men, as we must speak up, speak out, and stop the continued destruction on of our nation before God decides He’s had enough and removes His hands from our foundations.
