Lawyer Up!
Via The Joshua Commission
“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,” ~Philippians 2:9-10 NIV
Courtroom dramas like Law & Order have captured our attention for years. A crime is committed, the investigation unfolds, and eventually the accused finds themselves in a tense interrogation room. Question after question flies—until they finally say the words that change everything: “I want my lawyer.” In that moment, the officers close their notebooks and leave the room. The interrogation stops. Nothing more can be said.
That’s not just TV drama—it’s a real legal right. But here’s the even better news: in the spiritual realm, the same principle holds true. Jesus came to stand in your place, dismiss your charges, and give you direct access to the ultimate Advocate—the Holy Spirit. When you call on His name, the enemy has no choice but to back down.
The Bible declares that “God gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow” (Philippians 2:9–10). That means everything with a name must submit—demons, disease, addiction, fear, violence, depression, hatred, suicidal thoughts, and every other name that tries to rise against you.
So just like someone keeps an attorney’s business card in their pocket, keep the name of Jesus on your lips and in your heart. And when the enemy comes knocking, don’t try to argue your own case. Simply call on the name of Jesus—your Counselor, your Defender, your Advocate. In His name, you’ll win the day!
