“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”Philippians 3:13 -14
Holding onto past hurts, mistakes, and regrets can hinder our capacity to experience joy, peace, and love in the present. Fortunately, Christ offers us a path to liberation through the power of forgiveness.
I often struggle with the many opportunities I’ve squandered to disciple others over the years. More often than not, I allowed myself to be quick to anger, and slow to grace, failing to allow others to see Christ’s work through my actions. So many lost opportunities that I can only recently appreciate the potential impact I could have made in the lives of others, including my own.
From a Christian perspective, forgiving our past is not only beneficial for our own well-being, but it is also an act of obedience and devotion to God. Forgiving our past is a powerful way to experience, and reflect, the love and grace of God. It means releasing the power those wrongs have over us, allowing us to heal and press forward as we eye the Glory the future holds for us in Christ.
By embracing forgiveness, we can let go of past burdens, open our hearts to new possibilities, and grow in faith and compassion.
Daily Battle Order:
Pray to God for strength. Allow yourself to forgive your past as Christ already has. Discuss with your family and friends about how important self-forgiveness can be in clearing your focus on the future! Be brave and share what you have held onto.
