Crafty, Corrupt and Limited

Our struggle is not against flesh and blood. - Ephesians 6:12
Of the subjects that make people nervous, regardless of culture or age, spirituality is usually at the top of that list. Just the idea of the supernatural can cause humans to behave erratically. Considering that supernatural, unseen beings are involved in human lives, it can compound our fears. Humankind’s real enemies are created beings, though they are not human. They are finite and have limits just like humans, albeit operating in the unseen realm. While seasoned, experienced, supernatural, and very quick, our enemy has limits. He is not omnipotent, omnipresent or omniscient.
To recognize the enemy we have to do away with the cartoonish caricatures or horror movie depictions. The enemy will try to present himself as something, or someone that can attract your attention and thoughts; and then lay siege and corrupt.
The battlefield for this war is fought right in the middle of humankind, with 90% of the battles occurring between our ears!
Often our struggle in this war is that we fail to recognize the enemy and attack each other: our families, neighbors, friends and those we disagree with. Our misplaced, fraternized attacks, ironically, help his cause and hurt our witness for Christ. To recognize the enemy, look at the things that have your attention and examine the fruit. Weigh them against the authentic words of Christ and ask, “Are they pulling me towards the Great Commission and the Great Commandment?”
