Situational Awareness

Via The Joshua Commission

“Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭NASB

One of my closest friends has been pressing me on my emotional intelligence over the last few years.  Am I skilled at being aware of my own emotions and of the people around me. As we start to wind down our discussion of spiritual warfare I find great application for us as Kingdom Men who are aware of the battles we are in.

Are you prepared when you walk into situations that God has prepared for you?

  • Have you spent time with God that day, in his Word and in prayer, to get yourself focused?

  • Do you pause and reflect as you step into your next situation (time with family, a business meeting, a doctors appointment) to prepare yourself.

  • Will you take time to assess the room as you enter?  Where might God already be at work?  Where might the enemy already be at work?

  • Are you prepared to take action no matter the challenge (whether action looks like quiet prayer, a bold statement of faith, or even physical action)?

I think this is the apostle Paul’s challenge to walk as wise men, not wasting opportunities given by God and maintaining the situational awareness to spot the battles, the evil, we are called to battle as Kingdom Men.
