Editor note- in this study of proverbs we asked authors to select what resonates with them about wisdom. it’s worth looking at 1:7 with another lens
Proverbs 1:7“ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction”.
The line is simple. The very foundation for knowledge is the fear (love) of the Lord. Yet how many of us have stood by and watched a generation of kids develop into weakly educated beings with little direction and even less motivation to accomplish things that God has planned for them?
According to the word, loving The Lord is literally the bedrock of learning for understanding and yet we’ve allowed Christ’s teachings to be expelled from our public schools and universities. The impact of removing God over the last 40 or so years has been nothinging less than cataclysmic on our society. We’ve removed the 10 commandments for courthouses. We’ve eliminated prayers school and school board meetings. We’ve now begun to legally pursue Christian business owners for taking a stand in their faith.
And yet, we stand by and call ourselves leaders and warriors.
Daily Battle Order:
Be the warrior for the kingdom you claim to be! Call your local libraries and schools and volunteer to read to children. Read bible stories and other teachings that instill the fear of The Lord as the foundation of their knowledge.
But don’t stop there. Go to school board meetings with other men as a group and demand that inclusion policies also include a place for Christ. But don’t stop there, get involved in your church youth programs. Don’t just man the grill and move chairs and desks around for events. Read and teach. Let children see your commitment to Christ and to them. It may be the only opportunity some children have for seeing strong kingdom men standing up!
