The Lord took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden.” - Genesis 2:15-16
When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” So they set out and went from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing people everywhere. - Luke 9:1-6
From the beginning with Adam, God has been teaching man how to cultivate and grow what is his. Adam was successful because he trusted in God to guide him and the Garden flourished. Later, when Jesus was teaching his disciples, he sent them out to preach with minimal preparation. Most of these men were not well educated and did not seem properly equipped for their work, and yet they were able to win souls for Christ because their faith and witness was so genuine. They became swiss army knives of faith and relied on their trust in Christ while on the job, responding to situations as Christ taught them, just like Adam. We can all learn from both of these examples.
Reflecting on my experiences, the underlying current of my life is trust in God to put me where he needs me. I know that he has a purpose for me at each job even if I do not know what it is and that I will grow into every situation. I marvel at how all my understanding and experiences at school, in different jobs, with different people, all build on each other and prepare me for the next encounter, increasing my faith, trust and my ability to witness. I do not worry about where God is sending me because he has proven trustworthy and adept at placing me right where I need to be.

Thank God today for calling you to be a co-creator in building his Kingdom and for giving you all your experiences as training to witness to those around you. Let him know that you trust that he will use your accumulated skills and understanding to lift up those around you and that you also trust him when you feel inadequate, relying on him to work through you for a good outcome.
Men believe in the lie, that they must be a deep thinking, “churched”, highly educated godly men to serve the Lord in His Kingdom. This is a great reminder if we have the heart and will to say yes to the Lord, He will equip of for a specific task. He will send us out with our Swiss Army Knife so we are prepared for the work He has invited us to be part of.
I liked the Swiss army knife analogy but what gripped me was this statement, "they were able to win souls for Christ because their faith and witness was so genuine." You can tell a phony in a short amount of time and no one wants to listen to a phony. Great DBO!
