Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them. John 12:35-36
On the Tuesday before he died, Jesus Christ was still working. On that day, he woke up and clocked in, knowing that he would be preaching love and salvation to his murderers.
That morning he argued with religious leaders who wanted to arrest him. (Matthew 23:24-33). That afternoon, while Judas was off betraying him, Jesus was still preaching at the mount of Olives. He was saying the words that he knew we would read in Matthew 24 and 25 about what was to come.
Jesus Christ had a flurry of activity before he was murdered. He had something urgent to say!
Believe – In the Light. Walk – In the Light. The Darkness – it will never stop in its attempt to overtake you. Therefore, you must have the Light.
Can you see him saying this to you? Grabbing you by the scruff of your collar, this man - about to be killed - who has something important to say to you?
Daily Battle Order:
The Light of God is the Holy Spirit and the voice of Jesus Christ. You have access to it, here, on this side of eternity. You can keep that access - forever - if you walk in it and if you walk with Christ. Otherwise, the darkness will overtake you. Today - identify the darkness and get in touch with its reality and its will to overtake you. Today - accept the requirement that your health and safety require you to always be seeking The Shepherd - always!
The truth and honesty of this DBO stand out to me. I literally chuckled when I read the opening line, "On the Tuesday before he died, Jesus Christ was still working. On that day, he woke up and clocked in, knowing that he would be preaching love and salvation to his murderers." I never thought of Jesus "clocking in", I will always think of the Tuesday of Holy Week, and quite frankly every Tuesday with this DBO in mind and identify the darkness so that I may shine God's light on it.
