Our Bill of Rights as Citizens

This great country we live in was founded with one thought in mind: to be one nation under God with liberty and justice for all.
One of the greatest things that makes America unique among other countries is our Constitution. To be more specific, our Bill of Rights as citizens. What makes them so special? The fact that we did nothing to get them. Someone else paid the price for us. Like the freedom that was given to us through our Bill of Rights, our Father in Heaven also paid the ultimate price for our freedom - freedom from sin, freedom from death, hell, and the grave.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:1-4
To be totally honest, I am ashamed to say that before researching the Bill of Rights to write on them, I could not have told you what most of them were. Realizing that, I feel very convicted. How many of us take our freedoms for granted? Men gave their lives and left their families because they knew that without the freedom to be apart from British laws and bondage, we would never be able to be “one nation under God.”
Just like we have faith in our Constitution and the Bill of Rights in them, we should also walk in the freedom of Christ, as He has given us ultimate freedom! Do we really take time to understand what Christ’s death means for us? We don’t have to be in bondage. We no longer are enemies of God! We are free to live for Him and are free to live holy lives.
I challenge you: go look up the Bill of Rights today. If we don’t know our freedoms, how will we know when they are infringed upon or, even worse, taken away?
Father, I thank You for the sacrifice of so many before me. They knew what a country without You at the center looked and felt like. Thank You for the freedoms that I was born into. Thank You for the freedom to preach Your Word openly, the freedom to bear arms and defend my beliefs as those before me did. But more so than those freedoms, Father, I thank You for Your sacrifice and the freedom that was born in Christ Jesus. Help me to be a warrior, to know and fight for Your kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
In Your Holy, Mighty, and Matchless Name, Amen.
