One to a Thousand

“A little one shall become a thousand, And a small one a strong nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.””

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭60:22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

My walk with Jesus has been described at some points as a roller coaster ride filled with ups and downs. Other times it has been a random walk wandering from one religious activity to another, some helpful and some just “checking the box”. I had a friend in a small men's group describe much of my Christian life as “CHURCHianity” and not “CHRISTianity”. This kind of inconsistent relationship with Jesus left me frustrated and feeling like there really wasn’t much I had to offer, but I wanted more. The term I have come to use for this is “holy discontent.”

Maybe you feel the same way. Maybe you don’t see how your life as a follower of Jesus really adds up to much. Several years ago I was blessed to have a man (and then a group of men) began to challenge me and show me that my simple life could make a significant difference. That’s when I first heard this verse quoted and began to understand that there was a promise here of which I could grab ahold. At the end of chapter 60 the prophesy is about the future for God's people and their part in it. Even the most insignificant in His Kingdom make an impact. God, through Isaiah, tells us all that the least of us can become a thousand, even a mighty nation.

I liked the sound of that and hope you will come to believe it like I have. Even when our lives are messy and broken God can and will use us to grow His kingdom. That is a promise Isaiah emphasizes. GOd will save us but we get to be involved.

Over the last several months we have looked at dozens of broken and messy men from the Old Testament that God used. If you have come to a battlefield with the Joshua Commission you know that we are blessed with a bunch of broken and messy men who are learning that their lives can make a difference for the Kingdom. You can be ONE that becomes a THOUSAND too!!!

Daily Battle Order:

Stop right now and consider this promise that you can become a thousand, a mighty nation. It’s a big promise that may seem out of reach but it isn’t. Decide today that this will be your trajectory. Don’t worry if you aren’t sure what it takes to make it happen yet. If you will stay engaged with the Joshua Commission we will help you. This is a marathon not a sprint. Start planning now to join us at Gettysburg in October or next year at one of our other battlefield maneuvers where you can hang out with a band of messy men that is growing into a mighty nation.
