via TJC When you hear the word PROTECTION what comes to mind? Do you think of jacked muscles and an arsenal of weapons? Or how about an MMA smack down on a threat? 

For most of us when we think about protecting our family we think balls to the wall, kill or be killed. For most men there is no hesitation when it comes to our family in danger and us doing whatever it takes to stop it.

If we are so willing and desperate to protect our family’s physical well being then are we also as committed to protecting them spiritually?

What sense does it make for us to lock our doors and windows at night, Set the alarm and have our decked out AR by the bed, If we don’t stay as diligent on guard against our true enemy… The one who “comes to steal and kill and destroy”.

I challenge you. BE ON GUARD! Don’t let the enemy sneak in whilst your guard is down. He is after your children and wants their innocence. He is after your marriage and wants it to be ruined. He wants your time so he can keep you distracted. So let’s be intentional with what and who we allow in our home. I have to be completely honest. There are too many nights that I am separated from my daughters because I want to watch a movie that they can't watch. Or listen to music that they can’t listen to. Writing this I am convicted of how I put secular entertainment over being the protector over my family. If I wouldn’t let a stranger into my home and leave them alone with my daughter then what sense does it make for me to let them have open access to the world and vice versa.

..”But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

It starts with us! Let’s lead by example for our family and friends. Stay on guard at all times. In all ways. The enemy is looking for a foothold. Don’t even let him in the dang driveway.

Father, I thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit to lead us. To show us what is Holy and what is pure and righteous. Please renew my mind today. Help me to acknowledge and remove the weaknesses in my life so that I can stand watch more diligently over myself and my family. Help me to discern the things and people in my children’s life that shouldn’t be there. Help me to remove relationships and activities that will harm myself and my family. Help me to protect my home and my marriage from all evil, physical and spiritual. Show me how to lead and protect better. Equip me like you equipped Joshua when he led Israel. Help me to be the warrior that you created me to be .In your Holy and perfect name Amen!
