“There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission.” So started the Outer Limits each week
“And all the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down the walls around Jerusalem. And the rest of the people who were left in the city and the deserters who had deserted to the king of Babylon, together with the rest of the multitude, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard CARRIED INTO EXILE.” 2 Kings 25:10-11 ESV
18 July 586 BC, 600 years after Joshua led the Israelites into the promised land- Israel was destroyed and its people exiled AGAIN.
Throughout Kings the leaders and people ignore God’s warnings and sin up a storm, and God allows their enemies to remove them from the map.
As Kingdom men we pray for wisdom and discernment, but what happens when the culture around us is like the outer limits and someone else is controlling our focus, when schools can’t even discuss the biological differences between male and female, and allow men to defeat woman in their own sport,and when those those God placed in authority over us, seem to be leading us directly away from God.
- In Germany church leaders recently voted to to bless homosexual relationships. Other church leaders decry that this is blasphemous, and apostasy as they walk away from Christ and His teachings to embrace another religion.
- in America our leaders condone the murder and mutilation of our most vulnerable and innocent through abortion and changing of a child's natural sexual identity.
- Our adversaries (Russia, China, drug cartels) continue to gauge America as weakening as our disregard for democratic and historic judeo-christian values grows. And those adversaries are sowing absolute discord and chaos in everyone’s mind (left and right) to divide us.
This is not new- throughout Kings we read similar and worse, where son sinned just like father, and God had enough. We read these books to learn and do it well. But are you awake and care, or have you accepted the control of your mind - like in outer limits. Have you selected another God that suits you?
For me I hear a small voice in my head say “Grandpa what happened to America, what was going on, what did you do?” And I can’t say I talked about it and sat on my ass.
Daily Battle Order:
What are we to do? Repent, pray and take action.
Like the Israelites we need to repent of our sins and pray for those who guide us to repent. We need to pray and discern where God would have us act. Are you called to run for school board to confront shameful educational practices? Are you called to volunteer at the christian pregnancy center? Are you willing to discuss these topics and state your values against the media and cultural trends of our day at risk to your own job and security?
Choose you this day - whom you will serve … for me and my family…
