Interceding for the Committed Worker

via TJC

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”

‭‭John‬ ‭17:20-21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As a kid I struggled with hyperactivity, today they would call it attention deficit disorder. I think the root cause was going to a Christian school and sitting through prayers that drone on and on.

Seriously I appreciate it and and get it, but after 30 seconds I’m beginning to doubt if this is a prayer or a sermon. But one thing arrests my attention every time and that is actually hearing what Jesus said, and today it’s literally about you and I.

If you are reading this you are obviously a committed worker who is about the great commission - sharing the good news and building disciples. And Jesus prayed for you!! YOU!!

John 17 has become the pivotal chapter for The Joshua Commission as it’s Jesus sharing His blueprint and actions for building His disciples. And in verse 20 and 21 Jesus prays for you and me. Jesus does some amazing stuff - but here after three years of that - he stops shares His plan and then “WOW” prays for me and you as His workers today.

Daily Battle Order:

Please do not take my word for it; go grab your paper Bible - (please tell me you have one and are not lazy and google or YouVersion what we share) and read Luke 17:20-23 and everywhere it says “them” or “they” say your name aloud. Our Lord and Savior “I have given ____ the glory you have given Me”.

What a privilege to have Jesus himself honor us with such a personal prayer of supplication. No one deserves that, especially the ones whose sin placed Him on the cross. God help us today to glorify you by following your example in discipleship.
