Recognize the Accuser
Via The Joshua Commission
"Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun." - Numbers 14:30
Just as Joshua led Israel to conquer their promised land by facing physical enemies, we face a spiritual enemy, the “accuser”, who seeks to claim our inheritance from God.
The battle begins by identifying his voice. Try these steps:
1. Identify the Voice of Fear.
The accuser’s voice sounds like the ten faithless spies. It spreads fear ("You can't win"), condemnation ("You're a failure"), and division ("Your brother is the real enemy"). It paralyzes. God's voice brings conviction and courage to advance.
2. Examine the Fruit of the Thought.
What does this thought produce? The accuser’s report always bears the fruit of anxiety, anger, and division, designed to keep you wandering in the wilderness. God’s truth bears the fruit of faith, peace, and unity, empowering you to take ground.
3. Hold it Against Your Marching Orders.
Compare the thought to your commander's orders in Scripture. If a thought tells you to be afraid, discouraged, or to turn on your brother, it is insubordination. It defies your direct orders from Joshua 1:9. Reject it as enemy propaganda and stand on the truth that God is with you.
