This week we continue to look at marriage and specifically about our role as husbands to be the priest of our household. We will look at how the Bible frames this for us as Kingdom men, as well as how the world/culture is fighting against this role, maybe in more subtle ways than some of our other roles. A couple of stories about real life challenges and success from men trying to live out this “priesthood” will finish off the week.
I don’t know about you but this Husband-Priest thing has been tough for me. Depending on how you grew up this may seem very foreign. Many men have probably never thought about this at all. Others have only seen the role of priest carried out in the front of their church and have no idea they even have a responsibility in this area. That was me for sure. I still don’t know that I understand how to truly lead as a priest in my home. My wife probably thinks I’m pretty strange when I even try after so many years of not even trying.
This week will likely be a time to just start getting your arms around the idea that you are even supposed to fill this role in your marriage. Your wife may have to struggle with the thought that you are called to be the priest and maybe she isn’t. We likely won’t get all your questions answered but we hope we get you thinking at least.
Daily Battle Order
Answer these questions:
Do you even know what a priest really is?
Have you ever seen yourself as a priest in your marriage?
Would you even know where to start becoming a priest?
Ask your wife how she would feel about you being the priest of you marriage and your family. This week's DBO’s may create some really interesting conversations for you.
VETERANS DAY Message
You may not know this but many of our DBOs are written by veterans. There are men from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and even an active member of the Coast Guard (we need a Space Force guy if you know anyone). We are thankful for our brothers who have served, both our writers and our readers. Thank you for your service!! You are a blessing to us all.
Thank you to our veteran's, who have served and sacrificed. God Bless you.
