Don’t fall for it

But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:3 ESV
I don’t know what the deal is, but over the past few years the topic of spiritual warfare has come up a lot in my life. My “religious upbringing” didn’t include much discussion about it. When it did come up it mostly felt like it was used to try and scare me away from doing something the church (or my mom) thought I shouldn’t. I did get dressed up in the plastic version of the armor of God a few times as a kid and even sang a Sunday school song about being in the Lord's army. It didn’t seem very serious to me. Over these last few years however, I’ve come to think about it differently.
There is an important and simple belief, that if you don’t have it already, we hope you get. Spiritual Warfare is REAL. It can also be confusing and people have a lot of opinions on what it actually looks like in our lives. We will be doing our best to unpack that in the coming weeks.
What we have come to understand clearly though is that there is an enemy, he is real, and he lies. His biggest goal is to steer us away from God's holy truth and trick us into believing the counterfeits we have been discussing. At its core spiritual warfare is recognizing and believing and understanding we are truly in a battle and making sure you are learning to fight. Don’t be deceived by the counterfeits and lies, get into the battle.
