He Knows Our Deeds

via TJC

“I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot endure evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false; and you have perseverance and have endured for My name’s sake, and have not grown weary. But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.” Revelation 2:2-4

This sounded like a righteous proclamation to the church at Ephesus. That’s the church Paul spent years with. This is where Paul emphasized unity in the church between the Jews and the Gentiles, their brothers and that Christ reigned over them all. It’s the church that learned about faith and works. Where we learned that we have different callings but to the same end, the building up of the Body of Christ. Paul taught them to make the most of the time they had and taught them about the armor of God. And yet, “The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands,” proclaimed the admonition we read above, “I know your deeds…”

I thought to myself, “have I left my first love?” As I pondered that question I think of the times I’ve listened to a voice not of God and have pulled away from my first love through my sins.   I’ve not stopped loving God, or believing in Him,  yet I pulled away from Him, my First Love, as I am enticed by the lust of my flesh and its desires and give myself to them.

Daily Battle Order:

Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first;” Revelation 2:5a That’s a clear and direct Battle Order from our Commander in Chief; REPENT! Do The Deeds You Did At First!    The reward is beyond comprehension, “To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.” Revelation 2:7b
