God is With Us in His Infinite Power

via TJC

“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness. Why let the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes. Their idols are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. They have ears but cannot hear, and noses but cannot smell. They have hands but cannot feel, and feet but cannot walk, and throats but cannot make a sound. And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them.” ‭‭—Psalms‬ ‭115‬:‭1‬-‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”

—‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

From the Old Testament to the New, the authors of the Bible set up a world view with the perspective of foundational truth that God is all powerful, there is nothing too great for Him, He does not grow weary, He does not age, He is Omnipresent and Omniscient.

At times in my life, I have put limits on God. I have kept Him in a box, the dimensions of which have changed over time but, nonetheless fail miserably to adequately comprehend or contain the awesome power that is The Most High Living God.

I have been blessed to face many obstacles in my life and been fortunate to know the Lord was always there just as He promised us in His word to never leave or forsake us.

When I look back with the clarity of hindsight, I see Jesus always standing on the path talking with the Father with the best intentions for me and my life, but it was I who wandered away from the path.

An example of my pursuit of worldly accomplishments was in 2012 when I started buying and selling cars with a wholesaler while I was being processed for medical retirement out of the army. I was seeking monetary gain and dismissed the questionable character of the person I was following who eventually defrauded me and another Veteran out of >$100k. I did not first seek the face of God and His Kingdom. I can see where I set off on paths He did not ordain, but yet, He always created a path for me to return to Him. The path involved paying back my friend's money that was lost over a number of years while I also had to rebuild my credit from real estate ventures that also failed. But that path helped me to realize where I went wrong and forced me to be humble, appreciating the wealth I already had through my relationship and salvation in Christ, the amazingly wise woman I am married to, the job I was fortunate to have after the military, my beautiful children I had and see how rich I already was.

I short-changed the God of the universe and trusted in inferior means to seek, not the Kingdom, but the world which we are called to hate and to be on guard not to conform to.

Daily Battle Order:

What false idols do we have in our lives that we have placed before the True God of the Universe? Where have you placed your faith when it really comes down to providing for yourself and your family? What is the measure we use to calculate our goals and judge our achievements? If your life to date were poured like jello into a mold, what would you resemble? Take heart we Serve an Amazingly powerful and Just God who can make a way regardless of what we have done in the past or may fail in the future. He is the potter who can take our lives like a lump of clay and form us into amazing works of ark that resemble a song of praise to The Most High.
