Fruit of the Spirit: Faithfulness

via TJC

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” ~Hebrews 11:6 (ESV)

This week we are looking at the rest of the Fruits of the Spirit from Galatians 5.

When preparing for this DBO on faithfulness, my mind first went to basics from Sunday school, such as Hebrews 11, heroes of faith from both Old & New Testament, when Jesus returns will He find faith on earth? (Luke 18:8), etc.

As I stopped to pray, I heard the Lord ask me, “Do you want to hear from me?”

As I responded, “Yes, Lord”, I also felt like I had just been called to the principal's office.

The Lord then asked, “At your deepest and darkest times, and at the times of your most important decisions, did you look to Me?” I responded, “Yes, I think so”.

The Lord then said, “Yes, correct. I put that spark of faith in you. You have always responded by following that spark, no matter how hard.  Well done.  Now continue to do likewise. … Oh, and by-the-way, you can also look to Me in the simpler, not-as-hard times too. I would like that. Continue to draw nearer.”

My response, “Yes, Lord”, followed by a sigh of relief, and thankfulness/worship.

Faithfulness is believing that God is Who He says He is and continuing in that belief despite whatever life throws at us. In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. said in a sermon: “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” Though we might not face challenges like Martin Luther King faced, we will face future difficulties. God’s Fruit of the Spirit, Faithfulness, is available particularly at those times.

Daily Battle Order: Consider today: Where will you stand in your next time of darkness or challenge?
