Who you are is tied to how you see

Via The Joshua Commission

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What do you see in the mirror?  The above is the anchor verse for The Joshua Commission, as we train to see through the lenses of a King, a teacher, a lover and a warrior. We are royalty as sons of the one true King. We are called to teach others what is right, anchored in the word. We are to love one another as ourselves. We are warriors who stand up for our faith and protect our families. Christ is our model king, lover, warrior and teacher- we are to see ourselves as Christ to others.  That is your true identity.

When you embrace that identity you see Christ in others, your eyes focus on what is best for them. Your eyes focus on where they are in danger. You see past the temptations and challenges around you and others and act with authority. You no longer see yourself as an angry man, a lonely man, a man who didn’t have the best family, a man who is an addict, a man whose eyes wonder. Those are excuses to not step into your true identity.

Look deep into the mirror and see the new creation - you in Christ. You will need to address memories, pain, and old voices; to release the past and look forward through your real identity, you will see everything with amazing clarity and will see how and what God wants you to see in others.

A man’s greatest challenge is not lust, porn, tv, video games; it is seeing what truly matters - your identity.
