“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20
For the past several weeks we have walked through seven roles that you must assume as a disciplemaker. Today we are going to summarize and simplify them.
The first thing you must do for the people you are raising up as kingdom men is PRAY. Your prayers for those around you integrate the roles of God’s Ambassador, Messenger, and Intercessor. Jesus revealed God to those around Him by the words that He spoke, the message He brought, and the prayers He prayed for them. If you haven’t read John 17, read it. It’s Jesus longest recorded prayer, and it was about His disciples. So how about it men? How would those close to you respond when asked about you? One of my coworkers told me he thought of me as “Ned Flanders without the okily-dokily.” I was ecstatic. That proved to me that he knew who I was, that I served God, and that I meant business about it.
The second thing you must do for people is CARE. If you truly care about someone, you Protect, them and you Coach them. Jesus is the good shepherd, and so must you be with those who you are responsible for. If you don’t care, people notice…and usually they don’t want anything to do with you. Be the friend that has the hard conversations…that confronts people when they’re wrong…and that builds people up to be the best version of themselves.
Third, you have to SHARE. If you are a kingdom man you are a friend of God, a beneficiary of salvation, and a recipient of glory. You were commissioned with words Jesus spoke in Matthew 28 above, and you are the Commissioner and Viceroy for the new generation of kingdom men. If you don’t share what you have received, you are not fulfilling your duty as a disciple.
Daily Battle Order:
If you follow Jesus Christ, you are required to make others into disciples. You accomplish this by: PRAY, CARE, SHARE. It’s really that simple. Make a list right now of all the men who you are influencing…discipling. For each man, make a plan for how you will pray for them, how you will show them you care, and how you will share the good news of Christ with them.
A great recap! A strong reminder to me to Pray, Care, and Share.
