“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
Dear neighbor, we seemed to rush through that conversation yesterday on abortion, and we do not want to end that dialog with any miss perception on we “Agree to disagree”.
We want to be clear that as a Kingdom Man, we believe that God as creator, endows every human at the moment of conception with His image, and thus His value and dignity.
All means all – whether born again Christians, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist or atheist. Human life begins as the sperm from a man, and the egg from a woman, are joined and cells begin to multiply.
God means it when he says “before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart” Jeremiah 1:5.
Intentionally destroying that life at any stage of pregnancy is a sin, even if the cultural dialog paints it as a woman’s right, and even celebrates abortions.
We were very intentional to start this wrestling series with God is the creator, there is an enemy who wants to distort everything he meant for good, God created two sexes, and they are equal but different in how they reflect God’s image.
We want to call out the more than 60million abortions that have taken place in the US since 1973, only exceeded per capita by former communist nations.
Abortion is in the news daily, as quite a few states and our federal government disagree on access too, and especially federal govt funding of abortions.
But let’s make this personal - as Kingdom men we are wrestling with this topic, because this is about us as individuals. We want to have a dialog with anyone who is struggling with the decision to keep a child, or what to do with an unplanned child, or in the past decided to have an abortion. God loves you and wants to speak into your heart. You are not alone.
Kingdom men organizations couple with churches, men’s groups, even pregnancy assistance centers like “A Door of Hope” to explore options like adoption, who then follow up with men and woman who have sought their assistance.
Daily Battle Order: God created us in His image to be fruitful and multiply; within the context of a loving marriage between a man and a woman. We certainly know the stress of sexual activity outside of marriage and the fear and emotions that both men and women deal with during an unplanned pregnancy. We want to listen, empathize and love. That is the ground we stand upon. You are called to also take this stand and open up that dialog with your neighbor, your son or daughter, maybe even, maybe especially, your wife.
This was very well written. Thank you, author. We live in an interesting time where there are folks who do not only support abortion, but also celebrate it (???)... And then you have folks who shout "Murderer!" at women on the way into Planned Parenthoods. While I know which side my views more align with, I think our approach is crucial. Jesus is a gentle, gracious God full of unapologetic Truth. There are a set of different lenses we must strategically select as Kingdom Men.
