via TJC
BIBLE STUDY
14 Yahweh God said to the serpent,
“Because you have done this,
you are cursed above all livestock,
and above every animal of the field.
You shall go on your belly
and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.
15 I will put hostility between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring.
He will bruise your head,
and you will bruise his heel.”
Genesis 3:14-15 (WEB)
COMMENTARY
In the garden of Eden, God passes judgment on Adam and Eve. However, buried in that judgment is the first prophecy of Christ appearing in the Bible, spoken by God himself. God says that “HE” (not “They”) will crush the serpent’s head.
Original Sin is the result of the fall of Adam and Eve, but the original HOPE as communicated by God is for the arrival of the Christ who will deliver us. “Advent” means “arrival” in Latin. This week, we will explore the manifestations of HOPE in the scripture for the arrival of the promised one, the Christ of God.
