Curses: Lies That Sound Like Truth

via TJC

“Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, “You shall not eat from any tree in the garden?’ And the woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said “You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.” And the serpent said to the woman, “You surely shall not die!” Genesis 3:1-4 NASB

“Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city.” Revelation 22:14

Today begins Week 2 of our final series for this year. This series shows how the promises and curses in Genesis 2 & 3 are juxtaposed and fulfilled by Jesus Christ in Revelation 21 & 22. Last week we looked at Promises that God made in Genesis Chapter 2. This week we look at the Curses and how they impacted our understanding and relationship of what is and what should be. What can you share with them to share with? I looked up the definition of curses as it is a word not typically used in our modern lexicon. The definition is frightening and more so when the curse described in the Word is an everlasting curse!

Eve was duped by the devil, and Adam standing right beside her, allowed her to be duped and allowed himself and his wife to believe the lie. I’ve heard that story countless times and the self-righteous comments of how Adam didn’t protect Eve. Self-righteous comments indeed until the question is asked, “Have you bought the lies of the devil? Have you been duped? Those lies lead to death.

I have, I had bought those lies…and I still do occasionally. Those lies have affected my life as I’ve bought those lies about my true identity as a man, the lies of sexual sin and fantasy, the lies of not knowing what to do and therefore not fighting the good fight!

Now and daily I have bought the love of Jesus and His redemption for my sins.  As I am Building Disciple Makers, and as I am fully equipped with the Armor of God, I must share my story!

Daily Battle Order:

From Revelation 21 verse 5, “And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”  These words are faithful and true, these words can be fully believed, these words are not lies or deceptions, these words are faithful and true. These words are life giving.  It’s time for us, all of us, to wash our robes!

Father, we live in a world that was broken because of Man’s sin. We inherited their sinful nature and we toil harder and wrestle between what is and what should be. That sin has caused us to be ugly to one another and ever prideful towards You. Lord renew our minds. Let us know you have saved us for something more holy and better than the things that we sometimes think you are keeping from us. Remind us of the victory that You have delivered from the curses we put on each other and the trappings of the enemy. Give us wisdom and increase our fruit. For we know that all things come together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose.
