Applying My Identity: Warrior

via TJC

So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, Cursed are you above

all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all

the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between

your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

- Genesis 3:14-15 (NIV)

In this life, every man born is commissioned for war. Some receive it formally,

enrolled into their country’s defense by virtue of citizenship. In our country, it is conscience and freedom of will that leads many into military service. And in times of great conflict, when the war drums sound and the threats of an enemy grow near, many others hear the call and take up arms to serve.

As Kingdom Men, it would be easy to think we received our warrior commission at our salvation, when our King became clear and we gained eyes on the enemy. But as the above verse shows us, it was in The Garden where we were first commissioned as warriors and snake eaters, to lay siege to the usurper through our obedience, and reclaim what had been deceitfully stolen from us.

In His wisdom, God chose intimacy and relationship in the bond of

covenant to be the genesis of us, His Warrior Elite. To be a warrior for God then is

not conferred by merit, or by spiritual dispensation. To carry a shield, to lift up a

sword, and to smile at adversity, no matter its form, is our first birthright and the inheritance of all men yet to be born.

Daily Battle Order

It’s time to take inventory. What joys have you brought to the frontline today? What new objective has your King commanded you to take with Him? What good consequences await your obedience to Him?
