Am I Willing to be Changed?

via TJC

"This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me: The Sovereign Lord was calling for judgment by fire; it dried up the great deep and devoured the land. Then I cried out, ‘Sovereign Lord, I beg you, stop! How can Jacob survive? He is so small! ‘

So the Lord relented.

‘This will not happen either,’ the Sovereign Lord said." Amos 7:4-6

This week we considered Amos’s bold exposure of the religious hypocrisy of his day, and how his words echo even to us today. Amos' first jobs were as a shepherd and tending fruit trees. He used his free time to cultivate a relationship with the Sovereign Lord, and be changed.

Our God is a living God. If we simply read God’s word as a history lesson then we miss out; we are to bring His word in our very soul.

So when considering Amos this week how have you been changed? Have you felt like putting someone in a headlock until they see sense? Has the surrounding hatred and rampant injustice pierced and poisoned your own soul?

In today’s verse we can see that Amos had cultivated a deep relationship with the Sovereign Lord, and from that relationship the Lord could share deep things with Amos. From that deep relationship Amos could petition the Sovereign Lord, see change and even change in his surrounding relationships.

Bottom line: God says a real relationship with Him will transform a person’s relationships with others.

Daily Battle Order:

Today’s challenge: Are you willing today to cultivate a deep relationship with the Sovereign Lord, and be changed? If yes, then right now put in writing what that means to you, and resolve today to start to carry it out.
