Advent: Love

via TJC

And He said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22: 37-39

Today’s Adoration is Love. We’ve looked at all of the Adorations of Advent this week and now, Love is the last one. It is the culmination of all the others; Hope, Peace, and Joy. Jesus is quite clear on the importance of love as He says in verse 40, “ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

Loving others as I love myself is hard. Perhaps that’s because I’m not quite sure how or if I love myself. When I think on it, it seems selfish. Earlier this year I came to the realization that I like myself and that’s made a difference in the loving my neighbor part, but loving myself?  I’m learning that loving myself means choosing to lose old habits, changing the way I see things through the various lenses we’ve discussed at our Battlefield operations, and challenging myself by adopting new disciplines into my life. (still working on this one).

Daily Battle Order:

There are all sorts of things we believe in and especially at this time of the year as we have different holiday traditions that we value and love. Sometimes, we allow those things to overshadow the truth of Who we believe in and why we celebrate Christmas.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Kingdom Man, WHO do you believe in? WHO do you love? Are you ready to celebrate Him by loving who He first loved: the man who bears quite a resemblance to you!
