Victory Serving the Church: Seeking Opportunities

via TJC

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.. - Deuteronomy 6:4-8

I was bombarded with messages from commercials, movies and media regarding what it means to be a man. So, when I found Jesus Christ, I believed that I had to work because men admire hard work. I believed that I had to work hard, push myself to be a worker, and “clock-in”. It was a real source of anxiety. Mistakenly, when I felt the love of God, I also felt guilty thinking that I didn’t deserve. So, I thought - I better earn it.

I was exhausted. One day, the Holy Spirit clicked in a new way of seeing things, and I’ve been having an amazing time since that moment! I saw that all I had to do was enjoy watching the effect of loving others. Then, I started to seek out ways to catch that feeling again. Not all service is easy. There is resistance. God also found ways to challenge me and is still challenging me.

Learning to enjoy seeking out opportunities to be good to others and truly taking pleasure in it meant that I no longer had to “push myself”, yet I was still engaging in acts of service. In fact, I was seeking more opportunities, because there is no feeling like giving, protecting, hunting down new opportunities, big and small, to impact the lives of others. Make it shine through your eyes.

Today’s topic is “Victory Serving the Church”. Enjoy being a conduit for God’s love. Enjoy seeing the fruit of your work.

Daily Battle Order:

What do you truly enjoy or are passionate about? Do you have a skill that you are good at? How can you use that skill or passion in church? How can you make that happen?
