Victory in the Community: Legacy

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6

When I realized that “legacy” was the subject matter for this week’s writing, I winced. Legacy is basically a thing handed down by a predecessor. So… I’m asking myself, “What, of lasting value, have we as believers left behind for those in our circle who are left to carry on?” Why did I wince? Because there are days that I feel like the answer is “I’m not sure”. Or worse, it’s “Not much”. I’m here to tell you that I know where those answers came from, and I’ll give you a hint: They smell like smoke.

How do I know this? There are two reasons: First, who stands to gain by convincing us that any effort we give is in vain? The enemy. What happens when we are deceived in this way? We give up. Then we go into our shell. Suddenly, there is no one to offer comfort to those who suffer. There is no one to pray with (and for) that neighbor in distress. There is no one to pick up that fallen brother. Secondly, if we’re not about our Father’s business, we’re not minding our business. We’re serving the wrong master.

So… How do we achieve a legitimate and worthy legacy in our community? First, we acknowledge that the legacy is not ours. It’s not about us. It’s all about Him and what He can accomplish through us. We are the King’s envoy. Second, do not give up. Love. Serve. Pray. Disciple. Every day. There is no higher calling.

Daily Battle Order

Make it Happen. Earn that legacy. Today.

The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.” Revelation 3:1

Fantastic week of DBOs. Exceptional dialogs from them - easy to see the impact we can make. Well done
