“I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk to with you face to face so that our joy may be complete.”
—2 John 12
Technology is amazing. Over the centuries, we have communicated with one another through spoken word, written letter, telegraph, telephone, fax machine (I see you, Boomer), email, text message, and video call platforms. But as we learned over the last few years, nothing compares to face-to-face. There is just something about being in-person that is irreplaceable (not to mention how tired my thumbs get when I type on my phone).
There is something about face-to-face that makes the experience joyful for those present that words alone just can’t convey. Research backs this up, most experts agree that 70 to 93 percent of communication is nonverbal.
Two months ago, the TJC leadership Board & Elders were able to put this into practice. As many of you know, TJC members meet every Saturday morning for a video call. We’ve been meeting for years. We share prayer requests and praises. We celebrate the miracles God has allowed our group to be a part of. We discuss DBOs and plan TJC Battlefield Summit operations. It is a really powerful time for all of us, and I invite and encourage you all to join.
As important as this time is, one of our Elders brought up it had been over 4 years since we had all been together in-person (not including leading Battlefield Summits). He emphasized how important it is for us as leaders to get together in-person specifically to minister to one another, vision cast for TJC, fellowship, share a good meal, good drink and good cigars. The visit made our joy complete.
Daily Battle Order:
We were able to accomplish a lot for TJC that weekend. Far too much to write down with pen and paper here. That being said, the action step today is to make plans to experience it.
Plan to be on this Saturday’s TJC call for just a taste (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89652926018?pwd=dmN3RlErOGJsR3JlN0l0TnZzZHAydz09).
The Big action is to meet in-person. Register for one of this year’s Battlefield Summits. We will be at Chickamauga, GA on April 27th, Gettysburg, PA on May 12th, and Kings Mountain NC on October 26th.
Let’s open this to veterans of Christ moving around in other countries.
