Movember

Pray for the dead "that they might be absolved from their sin." - 2 Maccabees 12:43-46.

Via TJC

We start the 11th month with two back-to-back days that remind us that Halloween is temporal but we care about the eternal. Those two days are all saints’ day and all souls’ day.  Those are commemorations and reminders that we shall die and seek to attain heaven through our faith in Jesus Christ.

This kicks off a full month as TJC continues our America 250 history journey, stepping into the 1940s.  Our DBOs will focus on WW2, the greatest generation, communism and the start of the cold war, a war time economy transitioning to a consumer culture.  We will highlight our elections this week, Veterans day, the greatest generation, American smoke out, Thanksgiving, and one of my fav’s “call in well day.

It is also prostate awareness month - Movember, so grow that sketchy mustache.

Now some of you are scratching your head wondering  “where is 2 Maccabees?”. Well of course it’s between books 1 and 3.  LOL.

It’s just a section omitted in Protestant Bibles, called the Apocrypha.

Nearly 1/2 of all Christians today will read and pray for the departed as Judas Macabeus wrote in 100 BCE to the citizens of Jerusalem. His writing called for them to pray for the souls of enemy soldiers.

Daily Battle Order - Dear Father we pray for the souls of many around us who do not know you as their Lord and Savior. Without Jesus they will be forever isolated from you.  We pray for the boldness to share the gospel with ourselves, our family and those you lead us towards today. Amen.
