Rule of Life
Via The Joshua Commission
"Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." - Joshua 1:8
This verse contains God’s direct command to Joshua, and a "how-to" for his success. Before Joshua could fully possess the land, he had to internalize the map God had given him. He needed a "rule of life" to guide every decision. Only by meditating on the plan could he execute the plan.
To thrive in the land, he first had to let the Word thrive in him.
For us, the Kingdom Man’s Creed is our practical field guide for this quarter. Monday, we received our commission to thrive. Today, we receive the practical method for how to begin. A roadmap is useless if you don’t review it. A blueprint is worthless if you can’t follow it.
So, how do we prepare to thrive? We follow Joshua’s lead with three simple orders for this week:
Survey Your Land. Before a builder builds, he walks the property. This week, take an honest look at the territory you’ve seized, dedicated, and held. Where is the ground fertile? Where is it rocky? Ask God: "Where do you want me to start building first?"
Internalize the Blueprint. Don't just read the Creed on the screen (see below). Save it on your phone or print it out. Seriously: take some time and read it a few times.
Sharpen Your Tools. The greatest plans fail without the right tools. Your tools are prayer, Scripture, and brotherhood. Are they sharp? Are they ready? This quarter’s work will require you to be grounded in the Word and accountable to other men.
This is the work before the work. Complete these orders this week. Survey the land, study the blueprint, and sharpen your tools. Friday, we’ll see what it looks like when we succeed.
THE KINGDOM MAN’S CREED
I am a Kingdom Man. I am created by God to bear His image. I am a son and viceroy for my Fathers work. I am a warrior, lover, teacher and king.
I am a Kingdom Man. Like Joshua, I will be strong and courageous. I will train my mind and body for the battles to come. I will discipline my heart, eyes and tongue to be steadfast and faithful to the calling on my life.
I am a Kingdom Man. If a husband, I love and serve my wife, if a father, a loving father to my children. I will love and lead them as Christ loves the Church. If a brother, uncle, guardian, mentor or friend, I will give honor in all of my relationships. I will lead, teach, correct and train in the spirit of righteousness.
I am a Kingdom Man. I am called to break down barriers and free others from strongholds. I am a Peace Maker. My armor is Truth, Righteousness, Grace and Humility. I will stand in the gap for my neighbor to defend gospel justice for the marginalized.
I am a Kingdom Man. God is my provider. He has given me gifts and talents to exemplify Him with the work of my hands. I will work with diligence and excellence. My labor will be honest and its fruits purposeful.
I am a Kingdom Man with a Kingdom vision. Commissioned by Christ. My life is the Father’s. I am intentional. I will grow in my faith, be consistent in my actions and leave a legacy worthy of the race I have run.
I AM a Kingdom Man!
