Daily Briefing with the King

Whatever the Father Does

Via The Joshua Commission

So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.

‭‭John‬ ‭5‬:‭19‬ ‭ESV‬‬

And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.

‭‭Mark‬ ‭1‬:‭35‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As kingdom men we are representatives of our King in all the roles laid out for us in the first stanza of our creed.  As warriors, lovers, teachers and kings we are charged with letting Christ live through us (“…it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me… Galatians 2:20).  Sounds good, right?  So why do so many Christian men fail in living this out?

There is a lot that can be unpacked about our failures to accept the servant leadership God has for us as kingdom men but we want to start with the simple example of Jesus.  He got up early in the morning, or sometimes even stayed up all night, going to His Father to hear how he could best represent Him that day or in the next task.  The biggest road to failure as a kingdom man comes when we don’t consistently go to our Heavenly Father to get our daily marching orders.

What does the start of your day look like? Does it include going to God first by getting into his word and talking to him through prayer? [NOTE: just reading a Battle Order or devotional is a good start but isn’t enough].  Most men, even aspiring kingdom men, haven’t been taught the skill of spending time alone with God to get His clear direction.

If you find yourself to be untrained, unskilled, or maybe just undisciplined in going to your Father the King for your instructions as His viceroy, you can begin to change that today. Set your alarm 30 minutes earlier, pick a spot in your house to consistently go and read your Bible and pray. If you don’t know what to read consider a reading plan from the Bible App (the most downloaded app of all time).  If you want deeper training and skill building look into “Every Man A Warrior”, a favorite resource of the Joshua Commission (members of Joshua commission team would be glad to help you with this).

Bottom line.  When Jesus wanted to know how to represent His Father he went straight to him. Will you do the same thing?

THE KINGDOM MAN’S CREED

I am a Kingdom Man. I am created by God to bear His image. I am a son and viceroy for my Fathers work. I am a warrior, lover, teacher and king.

I am a Kingdom Man. Like Joshua, I will be strong and courageous. I will train my mind and body for the battles to come. I will discipline my heart, eyes and tongue to be steadfast and faithful to the calling on my life.

I am a Kingdom Man. If a husband, I love and serve my wife, if a father, a loving father to my children. I will love and lead them as Christ loves the Church. If a brother, uncle, guardian, mentor or friend, I will give honor in all of my relationships. I will lead, teach, correct and train in the spirit of righteousness.

I am a Kingdom Man. I am called to break down barriers and free others from strongholds. I am a Peace Maker. My armor is Truth, Righteousness, Grace and Humility. I will stand in the gap for my neighbor to defend gospel justice for the marginalized.

I am a Kingdom Man. God is my provider. He has given me gifts and talents to exemplify Him with the work of my hands. I will work with diligence and excellence. My labor will be honest and its fruits purposeful.

I am a Kingdom Man with a Kingdom vision. Commissioned by Christ. My life is the Father’s. I am intentional. I will grow in my faith, be consistent in my actions and leave a legacy worthy of the race I have run.

I AM a Kingdom Man!
