Whose Kingdom are You Building?

via TJC

I will establish his kingdom forever if he is unswerving in carrying out my commands and laws, as is being done at this time. So now I charge you in the sight of all Israel and of the assembly of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God: Be careful to follow all the commands of the Lord your God, that you may possess this good land and pass it on as an inheritance to your descendants forever.

1 Chronicles 28:7-8

Who among us can be perfect? David, an example of faith who did so much for God, was still not perfect. He was flawed and so he was not rewarded with building the Temple. After finding this out, he admonishes his son Solomon to follow ALL God’s commandments so his kingdom may last forever. David died and Solomon died and their kingdoms passed away over time. We know of only one Kingdom that lasts forever and it is the one created by He who DID follow all of God’s commandments. Jesus, who is perfect as David was perfect and without David’s faults.

This Good Friday, we experience the darkest part of our Christian year. Our savior, the spotless lamb is led away to slaughter. There seems to be no hope for the Kingdom Christ preached but brothers, we already know how the story ends! Christ rises and calls all men to work to build His Kingdom! We are charged by Christ as Solomon was charged by David to follow all God’s commandments in everything we do, whether work or play, in our families and businesses, so we may be part of the Eternal Kingdom. So whose kingdom are you building with your actions?

Daily Battle Order:

Today, Meditate on the emotional roller coaster of Christ's Passion and Resurrection. The Apostles watched the man who had complete control over existence led away to death at the hands of those who hated him. Then after cowering for three days, the Risen Christ appears to them, bolstering their faith so much that they gladly died building His Kingdom. Take heart and ask God to shore up your faith this weekend so you may also build as God intends.
