Understand These Things

Via TJC

“Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.”

Hosea 14:9 ESV

I’m challenging myself to accept a heart of forgiveness at a great cost to my inner desires. My wife and I have discussed similar patterns in connection with God’s charge to Hosea and the conclusion has been we would part ways if there was even a small hint of adultery. I contemplate the huge balls it took Hosea to take his wife back with a longing heart and the forgiveness he showed. I am forced to reflect and see myself as Israel (God’s Bride). . It has given me a deep understanding of how many times God gets so annoyed with our lack of discipline and longing to be his creation, yet He lovingly accepts us back. Again, this isn’t a woke Disney story, God will “mess” you up when you do dumb stuff, but like a loving Father will show compassion and mercy.

Battle Orders:

Think about the dumb S%*^ you have done and have called yourself a Christian. Once you realize you are an adulterer against God, think about how many times he has blessed you through your sin. Use this example of love to do the same to a neighbor.
