“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.” Job 38:4
The Book of Job teaches us important lessons about the limits of human understanding. Throughout the story, we see Job and his friends struggling to understand the reasons behind his suffering. They try to explain it away with various theories and ideas, but ultimately, they are unable to grasp the full scope of what is happening.
I can relate to Job and his lack of understanding. What Job and his friends lacked, however, was the Holy Spirit. I certainly didn’t have the afflictions Job had, but then again, Job didn’t have mine either. Trying to understand why I believe how I believe and the actions I take because of those beliefs, some of which I’ve had my entire life is a battle I fight daily.
Ever since I attended our Chickamauga Battlefield Experience last month, I’ve begun to question what I believe. Not Who I believe in, but what I believe in. For me, turning to the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, is not easy. Accepting God’s truth can hurt, especially if I don’t want to believe it because it means turning from lifelong habits!
Unlike Job, my friends don’t sit around for days saying nothing. Like me, they too are filled with the Holy Spirit and seek the same Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth so we can believe God and His Truth together and then help one another to act upon it.
Spoiler Alert! It doesn’t happen overnight but God is patient!
Daily Battle Order:
Change is difficult, Deep Change is going to encompass everything I believe and the roots of why I believe it. I’m not sure I was looking for this Deep Change but as I came to Chickamauga I had just one question for God which I hoped He’d answer; “Now What?” Well He’s answering it, my part is to accept and embrace the deep change He’s bringing in me.
The Battle Order is clear, Join us on Saturday, May 20th at the 2nd Manassas Battlefield Experience as we learn about Deep Change!
